Dr. Gilberto (Gilbert) Lozano
Professor of Biblical Studies and Hebrew

Hello. Welcome to my faculty page. Here you'll find some information about me, my work, and some of the things that make me tick.

Education:
  • PhD The Iliff School of Theology and The University of Denver
  • MDiv The Iliff School of Theology
  • BA Warner Pacific College
  • BTh Boa Terra Theological Institute
My interest in Biblical Studies was born early on in my life. The Hebrew Bible attracted me even as a teenager. Fortunately, I have been able to make it my life's work to spend my waking hours studying the Hebrew Scriptures. I'm particularly drawn to the prophetic material, the history of the ancient Near East, especially ancient Israel, and the study of ancient languages. At the School of Theology I have taught introductory courses in the Old Testament (Hebrew Bible), and Hebrew language. Elsewhere, I have taught the whole range of the biblical canon, as well as Greek language.

I'm also interested in hermeneutics (the science/art of interpretation), and even (I hope specialists won't hold that against me) in liberation theology. In my spare time I like to read, watch movies, and I also play the cavaquinhoa four-string instrument used to play Brazilian popular music.
